Animal Healingholistic health, healing and well-being for animals
Hi, my name is Dawn and I am a qualified Essential Oil Educator, Animal Healer and Holistic Therapist, and I wanted to share with you a little bit about me and where my passion and love for animals began.
Since as far back as I can remember, I have always had dogs or cats, and a few birds along the way. When I was still living at home, my parents used to show dogs, so I regularly attended the dog and county shows. My mum used to show Shih Tzu’s, so when it came to attending Junior Handling classes, I always managed to borrow one of my mum’s friends slightly larger and more fun dogs to show. I also spent a lot of the time, walking around and saying hello to all the different dogs and other animals, depending on the show we were at. In 1994, I joined the police force and had the opportunity to work alongside the police dog handlers, and even supported them with training, which is where my love for German Shepherds really started.
So, let me introduce you to our beautiful german shepherd Kai, who brings so much joy and fun to our family.
In 2006, I qualified as a Reiki Master and Holistic Therapist, and even though at this time, I was working full time as an administration manager, I ran my own holistic therapy practice working from home. My focus at this time was working with people, rather than animals. However I did provide Reiki healing on Oscar, who was my loving little Affenpinscher who had a heart murmur, but lived a happy healthy life until he was 18 years old.
I’ve also provided Reiki to any other animal that wanted to join in on my treatments when visiting people at their home. Yes, I’ve had dogs and cats sat on the treatment couch, whilst treating the owners on several occasions, and when they’ve not been sat on the couch, they’ve had their own mini treatment afterwards.
I’ve been fortunate enough to work with animals of all shapes and sizes, including my friend’s horse. But the best part is, that I can also integrate my passion for essential oils and other natural remedies when working with them, to support them both physically and emotionally. Since working more with animals, I have realised just how much I wanted to change my path and focus on working more with animals and their owners.
I also run essential oil classes online for Horses and Pets (click relevant class for further info) which have been created in collaboration with “Essential Oil Vet”, Dr. Janet Roark, DVM, which you will receive FREE of charge when you book a consultation with me.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is an ancient Japanese form of ‘energy healing’ or transfer of energy between a practitioner and the recipient with origins that date back thousands of years. Reiki is based on the premise that a universal life energy is present in all living things and when this energy becomes blocked, discomfort and disease can occur. Although it works gently and effectively on physical healing, Reiki works at a much deeper level where there may be deep mental, emotional blocks or imbalances which may be causing a physical problem.
Animals respond well to Reiki treatments which can assist them to heal emotional, behavioural and physical illnesses or injuries in a very gentle way. Animals decide how much Reiki they want to accept and for how long. They determine where they want the Reiki to help them, either physically, emotionally or both. Reiki is not intended as an alternative to veterinary care.
Benefits of Reiki For Your Pet / Animal:

During a hands-on healing session, your pet / animal may investigate my hands or push their body into my hands, or even stay away from me and observe me from a distance. There are no rules, your pet / animal will be in charge of the session and I will work with them with my hands on their body or just with them, even if they are sitting away from me. During a face to face healing session, your pet / equine might go into a deep state of relaxation or even sleep.
Before book your consultation, if you have any concerns about an animals’ health or wellbeing, your first port of call must be a veterinarian. Only a vet may make a diagnosis, or prescribe. Animal healing in a complimentary therapy, as it is best to seek your vets permission before booking.
You can book a single session for your pet and that may be enough. Sometimes, as with humans, it can require a few sessions to see a difference but your pet should always feel better during and after any healing session.
